Mediation is a process where the parties meet with a mutually selected impartial and neutral person who assists them in the negotiation of their differences.
Decide what you want to achieve. Share important information with the other party beforehand if possible. Be ready to briefly explain your position during mediation. Identify what matters most to you and be open to compromise. Mediation can be long process that requires patience. There may be periods of time that you will be able to work or make phone calls. Please bring your photo ID, financial statements, devices, headphones, chargers, dress in layers for temperature purposes, reading glasses, snacks and organized notes. If you require a translator, please let us know in advance.
Virtual mediation has become a popular option. We can also meet at your attorney's office, library, church, chamber of commerce, courthouse or conflict resolution centers.
Stay positive and professional.
Speak the truth.
Be respectful.
Have lots of patience.
No recordings will be allowed.
No foul language.
No interrupting or speaking over others.

Track progress.
Have phone etiquette.

Monica will meet with parties separately unless meeting jointly is acceptable by both parties. She will give a brief introductory and go over the ground rules of how to set your mediation up for success. She will request a five to ten minute opening statement from each party. She will also ask a lot of open ended questions and work with you on prioritizing topics of importance. She will meet with each party in a forward moving process repeatedly makings sure that we are moving toward an agreement. Once both parties agree on terms, Monica will create a "Mediation Settlement Agreement". Once both parties sign the Mediation Settlement Agreement, you have a binding agreement that will be sent to your attorney and or courthouse.
Please note, that only parties to the agreement are allowed in our session unless it is agreed upon by all parties to allow additional attendees.
